Atlantic Shutter holdback are a popular choice to use for decoration on fixed mount shutters or for real working functional shutters. Stainless steel holdbacks, or tiebacks and shutter dogs as they are sometimes referred to, are used to hold the hinged shutters open and back against the wall for functional shutter installations.

The scroll or "S" style of shutter holdbacks have been used and popularized on houses built since the 1930's to current times and is probably the most visible style you will see now days.
